Frequently Asked Questions
If I join the Dedicated Care Center, will this change how my insurance works? Will I still pay a co-pay?
This new practice will not affect the insurance process at all. You will continue to pay your co-pay and we will continue to file your insurance. Your co-pay is an agreement between you and your insurance carrier. The monthly payment for the Dedicated Care Center is for non-clinical services that are NOT covered by your insurance carrier. Your insurance will not cover the monthly membership fee.
What insurances work with the Dedicated Care Center?
We are currently open to most insurance products, including Medicare. Most of our physicians do not participate with the Anthem HMO product (HealthKeepers).
What if I leave the Dedicated Care Center mid-year?
The Dedicated Care Center membership is month-to-month. You may discontinue your membership at any time. If you have paid in advance for the full year, we will refund you the prorated amount.
How are payments made?
The most common form of payment is through automatic bank account deduction or credit card charge. Monthly or yearly billing can be arranged. Other options exist; please call us for details.
Will you see me in the hospital?
Yes, we will continue to make rounds at the hospital, sharing call with the other physicians from the Dedicated Care Center and Consultants in Internal Medicine.
Which hospitals will you cover?
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Who do I call after hours?
That’s just another benefit of the Dedicated Care Center. No waiting on hold for the answering service or the after hours nurse. The on-call physician is available by cell phone if you need us.
